The Art Guild is pleased to announce that it is joining forces with the Swartz Creek Kiwanis Club and the Swartz Creek Women's Club to present Art In The Park, on Saturday, August 29, 2015.  The event will be held at Elms Road Park, just minutes from the I-69 and I-75 interchange.  The Committee is inviting fine art and fine crafts of the finest quality to participate.

New Announcement:

Swartz Creek Area Art Gallery & Guild is now opening our facility for your parties! If you have an organization or group that is looking for an affordable meeting place, we have it.  $25.  Could also be used for b’day parties, showers, etc.  A member must be present!  All reservations must be made through the Gallery. Please call 810.630.6076 for reservations and  facilities information.


ON-GOING EVENT:  ANNOUNCEMENT:  "Art At The Creek".  Paint Parties at the Gallery for groups of 6-10 persons.  Host Artist will demonstrate and lead participants in the creation of an acrylic painting.  BYO snacks and beverages (up to and including wine).  All supplies provided.  Cost: $35/per person.  The Guild has designated the following local organizations and national charities to receive 15% of that month's party proceeds.  Book your party NOW!  Prepaid registration required.

May14, 2015-Swartz Creek High School Exhibit begins.

August 29, 2015-Art in the Park Fine Arts and Fine Crafts Festival; 9 a. to 5 pm at Elms Road Park

The Art Guild is pleased to announce that it is joining forces with the Swartz Creek Kiwanis Club and the Swartz Creek Women's Club to present Art In The Park, on Saturday, August 29, 2015.  The event will be held at Elms Road Park, just minutes from the I-69 and I-75 interchange.  The Committee is inviting fine art and fine crafts of the finest quality to participate. 


January 24, 2014:  Workshop:  Painting Clouds (acrylic or oils).  9am to 4pm.  Cost:  $52.  Pre-registration required.  Instructor: Nancy Olds. 

We will explore techniques for painting clouds -- fluffy, wispy, stormy and colorful.  The morning will consist of demonstration and practice.  Instructor will provide 16x20 canvases for this exercise.  Following a break for lunch, the remainder of the day will consist of the participant painting his/her own landscape composition with emphasis on clouds.  Assistance from instructor as necessary.  Participants are to provide their own reference photos, canvas (16x20 or smaller), brushes & paints for the afternoon segment.  Feel free to bring your own easel.

Suggested Paint Colors for Sky & Clouds:  Titanium White, Red Hue, Ultramarine Blue, Cerelean Blue, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Cad Yellow (med) and Cad Orange.  Suggested Brushes: 1" or 1.5" flat, 1/2" filbert and small detail.  A 2" brush for blending is also suggested.

BYO sack lunch (frig & micro on site). Coffee & water provided.

November 8, 2014: Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser:

4:30 to 7:00pm at the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Michigan.

Ticket prices: under age 5 – free; ages 6 to 11 -- $5.00; ages 12 and up -- $8.00. 10% of ticket sale proceeds will be donated to Creative Center for the Arts.

Tickets can be purchased from Guild members and at the Swartz Creek Art Gallery, 8048 Miller Rd., Ste G., Swartz Creek, MI. 810-630-6076.

Hours of  operation: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri: noon to 5pm; Sat: 10am to 4pm.

In conjunction with the Dinner, the Guild will hold a Silent Auction as well as have their hand-made greeting cards available for purchase. Proceeds raised through these events will help provide funds to enhance the programs that can be offered at the Gallery and further the Guild’s ability to continue its community service.

The United Methodist Women will host a Bake Sale in conjunction with this event and Creative Center for the Arts will provide entertainment.

October 26 thru Nov 1:  Rebecca VanEvery and Greg Maul Exhibit.  Open Reception on Sunday, October 26, 1pm to 3:30pm.  Refreshments served. Public invited.

Greg Maul, aka Stickman, has been a Guild member since its inception. His artwork includes hand-carved and painted walking sticks and “tree stump” stools, decorative bottles, painted “reclaimed” chairs and a unique approach and technique in abstract 2-D wall art.

Rebecca VanEvery has been a Guild member for the past 2 years.  She utilizes acrylics and oils to bring her concepts on everyday living to life.


October 18 Workshop:  Peggy Abrams will demonstrate and lead the participants thru her unique technique of flower painting.  2:30 to 3pm.  Cost: $42.  All supplies included. Prepaid registration required.

September 13 and 14:  Fine Art and Craft Show:  This 2-day Show will feature talented artists and crafters from throughout Michigan.  Site:  Elms Road Park, Swartz Creek.  Site Fee $125 ($100 for Guild members).  For additional information or application, click here to download, email njolds96@gmail.com. or stop into the Gallery.

July 20 thru 26:  4th Annual Christmas in July featuring internationally renowned watercolorist Peggy Abrams.  Opening reception on Sunday, July 20, 1pm to 4pm.  Refreshments will be served.

May 11 thru May 17:  The Guild is pleased to announce the 2014 Swartz Creek High School Art Exhibit.  The Gallery will be open Sunday, May 11 from 1 to 4pm; regular Gallery business hours the rest of the week.  Public is invited and encouraged to visit the Gallery throughout the week to view the student's art and vote for their favorite piece.  Voting closes at 7pm on Friday, May 16.  Everyone is welcome to attend the Closing Reception on Saturday, May 17, 1 to 4pm, where awards will be presented to the students. 

March 22, 2014, Vitrea Art Glass Workshop, 10am to 4pm:
In this first of its kind workshop you will learn how to create your own piece of Vitrea Art Glass.

Instructor James Douglas Draper is an engineer, artist and instructor.  Specializing in an abstract art technique called Creative Watercolor since 2008 he was won several first place or best of show awards at art exhibitions in Michigan.  While experimenting with the properties of paint pigments and their effect on light transmission through glass he developed his series of glass creations called Vitreas that are a blend of sculptural elements and painting.  The techniques the artist has developed incorporate found objects, and collage plus various translucent, semi-translucent, and opaque pigments onto plate glass to create unique pieces of abstract art, the colors of which change with the ambient light.

Cost $70 (ages 16 and above). Payable in advance to confirm reservation (cash, check, credit card) Includes all supplies plus 12 inch diameter plate glass and (1) tote tray.  Coffee and water provided.  BYO sack lunch.

Display stands and additional glass sizes will be available for purchase if desired.

Christmas In July: July 21 through Saturday, July 27, 2013

The Swartz Creek Area Art Guild is pleased to announce its
3rd Annual Christmas in July, featuring Peggy Abrams. Ms. Abrams, a local resident and Guild member, is an internationally renowned watercolorist famous for her illustrations of Santa Claus. Her artwork graces homes around the world. She will debut new original works, prints and cards as well as time-honored favorites from her 30+ year career.

Artist, Greg Maul, with his sand paintings depicting impressions of his home town, Flint, over the decades
